From Seed to Plate - March 22nd Montalto Vineyard
A locally sourced celebration of food, agriculture & community at Montalto
Simone Watts & Montalto’s head chef Gerard Phelan have created an evening showcasing local produce whilst highlighting the labour and love of the Peninsula’s farming community. The ingredients for each dinner haven’t been purchased in ordinary restaurant fashion, but rather exchanged for Simone’s time at each farm. Why are we promoting this? Because we love Transition Farm where Simone is pulling the carrots (and beets and herbs and...) from. And we love food. And we love anyone who supports local projects who give so much to the community. And we don't mind a glass of wine either. For tickets and more info click here |
If you'd like to buy directly from Transition Farm, their Autumn Share begins now. I've always said, that even if I had a full organic garden myself, I'd still buy a share of their season. There's nothing like it anywhere because of the nutritional value of their soil. These farmers work hard for us. Makes you strong. Supports your life. Tastes incredible. French St Rye
Public forum April 20
What to do with 7.2 hectares of community land?
Did you know this even existed? Perhaps you've been walking your dog there for years now. An old tip, this land is considered public and available to the community, for the community. Currently, the project is being steered by a small, enthusiastic group, but we need to hear your voice. Counsel is on-board and providing funds for soil testing. Have your say here. Six easy questions. A Community Forum will also be held on 20th April at the Rye Civic Hall 7.30pm - 9.00pm, if you'd like to be at the source and get involved. |
We love trees - A Talk in the Park - Saturday 11th March.
Free event.
Every day in the park we practice being a tree, connecting to their essence, their harmony of being in "Sthira Sukham"
Join us this Saturday March 11 for (about) 15mins after class when local Gidja Walker joins us to talk about the native trees in the park so we can better understand their nature, their age, why they're so resilient, and perhaps appreciate them with different eyes.
Gidj is a local character who is passionate about the land and its species. An ecological consultant and natural systems teacher, she's also founder member and long-time president of the Southern Peninsula Indigenous Flora & Fauna Association.
